How we collect, use and protect the information you share with us.

This policy is a starting point, not legal advice. Have it reviewed against your actual data practices and your obligations under IRS Publication 4557 and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act before the site goes live.
What we collect
To prepare a return we collect the information the filing requires: names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, income documents, deduction records and bank details for direct deposit. Through this website we also collect anything you type into a contact or appointment form, and basic technical information such as your browser type and the pages you visit.
How we use it
We use your information to prepare and file your returns, to answer your questions, and to meet our own record-keeping obligations. We do not sell it. We do not share it for marketing purposes.
When we disclose it
We disclose information only with your written consent, to the tax authorities as part of filing your return, to service providers bound by confidentiality agreements, or where the law requires it.
How we protect it
Client documents move through an encrypted portal, not email. Access is limited to the staff working on your file. We maintain a written information security plan as required of paid preparers, and we review it annually.
How long we keep it
We retain returns and supporting documents for the period required by law, generally seven years, and then dispose of them securely.
Your choices
You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent for optional uses such as our newsletter. Write to info@clearpathtax.com.
